The 50 States of FFA Today

Think of that time you were a High School Freshman wanting to stand out and be different. Well maybe you didn't but I did. I have always had a passion for agriculture and sharing it with others. 50 States of FFA started in the spring of 2019 when my high school ag teacher told my ag science class that we were going to do Ag Exchange Boxes. I thought that was going to be so much fun and I wanted to be "extra" with this project. As I told my ag teacher that I wanted to start a project by myself and the project was going to be sending and receiving ag boxes with all 50 states and 2 US territories, my ag teacher looked at me and said "I love that idea, just know it will take a lot of work but I'm willing to help you." At that moment I sat down and started planning on how I was going to make this dream a reality.

It was a long and kinda stressful road to get to where I am now but I managed. It started with me contacting Kansas agribusinesses to get supplies and explaining what my project was. Next I started to contact schools and figure out where I was going to start sending boxes. I then made a map to pinpoint my ideas and then let this project sit over summer. When school started back up I jumped on it immediately. I went through the storage and found all of the stuff for the boxes and organized it by what was in the storage container to make sure that I had all of my stuff. After that I started contacting school and made business cards. At the National FFA Convention I talked to schools and made friends who I could send boxes to. After I got back, I packed the boxes and labeled them. The first boxes went out on December 17th 2019.

This project is going to let me make connections, learn about different agriculture, and be able to share my passion. I hope to do presentations on what I have learned in the upcoming months. As I get this project started and start receiving boxes I hope that you find this project as interesting as I do!
